'Kaala Yane Andhera' - revolves around 3 different shades of life or people. Kelkar, a forgotten painter,
known for his passion and artistic brilliance & his two students, Raju who thinks nothing is bigger than money and
Krishnan who follows Kelkar's footsteps and thinks artistically only.
The Play begins with Kelkar working in the dark corner of his house, secluded from the world,
Raju winning national award for his painting and Krishnan lost in the journey. An unexpected visit by Raju after
5 years unravels many secrets. Some pleasant, some shocking.
The story takes you to the past and brings back to the present slowly and gradually revealing the layers of the characters and the story.
Crippled in different ways, can expression find it’s voice? Can we break the chains that hold us back,
when it isn’t only an internal struggle but also an environmental hostility?
Inspired from a real-life incident, “Kaala Yane Andhera” is a play which talks about freedom of
an artist through metaphor of colors, the conflict of ideologies and much more. While Kelkar paints Black,
Krishnan hides in the Dark and Raju strives to find color out of sheer emptiness. Will Raju be able to find his friend,
his lost drive to paint and his teacher? Will he come out of the Dark, and then again, do we have it in us, to fight the dark?
